Strawberry Shortcake. Simple. Sweet. Sign me up!
Ok, yes, I could sit here and tell you that I slaved for hours preparing the perfect shortcake, homemade whipped cream and a lovely strawberry syrup...
Let's get real for a second. Between the home-schooling, farm work/tours, housekeeping and general life stuff... I have zero time to spend hours on an elaborate dessert. Here is where this recipe saves lives and wins hearts. It is simple. It is tasty. It can feed a whole crew of people.
Simple Semi-Homemade Strawberry Shortcake
1 Pound of Strawberries
1 Cup Sugar
3 Tablespoons of Bonton Honey. (If you want to purchase some of this insanely tasty honey, send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org)
1 Angel Food Cake, store-bough or Pound Cake...
1 Can Whipped Cream, yes the good stuff in the can. Splurge on name-brand... Totes worth it!
Dice strawberries and place into a bowl with a lid. Toss in the sugar, honey and stir. Let sit in the fridge and come back in an hour or just after dinner. You will find that these babies have made an incredible strawberry syrup whilst you were away! On a fancy dessert plate aka paper plate, place a slice of chosen cake, toss on some of those sweet diced strawberries and drizzle with the delectable strawberry sauce. Top with whipped cream and another drizzle of sauce and ENJOY!!!
This recipe is so easy and crowd friendly that you can easily manipulate the recipe to feed upwards of 25 people or 2! Eat away my friends!
